Congresswoman Omar went on to point out that nobody could call her a “nationalist” because her extended family helped drive Somalia into anarchy.

“Racist” has lost its sting. Enter “ White Nationalist”.

I think we’re onto something here.

‘Nazi’ has similarly lost some of it’s punch due to wild overuse.

They’ve heard ‘white supremacist’ before, but it’s obvious the democrats’ political opponents are not white supremacists and that term is of limited attack value.

‘White nationalist’ however sounds scary. It’s almost never used in mainstream discourse and the average person has probably literally never heard the term.

So they had to thread the needle here in the language war. And it looks like they’ve come up with a winner.
